Quick Guide on Understanding Your User

Hey there,

As I told you last week, I will start to develop my first website soon and I am doing a lot of research on how to make it a good website [1]. On last week’s post I gave you a tip on how to achieve that and it was: "give your consumer what they want, in the easiest and prettiest way you can". Well, what I only now realized is that in order to do that you first need to know your consumer. But how can you do that? Who are your users? How can you understand their behavior? Well…stick here with me and I will try to explain you that.

A good way to answer these questions is by creating personas and trying to understand more about user behavior (What is User Behavior [2]).

Well, at this point you may be wondering:

What is a persona?
Personas are basically fictional characters that represent different groups of users/costumers of your site, product or brand.

Why are personas created for?
Because personas help make groups of people more understandable. Using personas you can understand common user needs, patterns, similar interests and much more about who is accessing your site or buying your product.

Golden Tip from Netflix: try not to use stereotypes or just simple demographics. This kind of data is easy to get, so your competitors are probably doing that, and demographics hardly give you insights on how to act differently regarding your users.

Well, creating personas can look a little bit complicated but this is actually not a hard thing to do. And is a really important thing for your business. If you want to start creating your personas, here is a link with some personas templates [4].

My tip for you today is: create personas, constantly analyze your user's behavior and trace marketing strategies to make sure you are successfully giving your consumers what they want.

Feel free to leave your comments bellow and I hope to see you next week.

Byee.
