Redesigning a Website

Hey there,

As you probably know from my previous posts: I am a newbie in Web Design. I am currently leaning how to write codes in HTML and CSS in my university and one of my latest assignments was to redesign a website. I loved doing it and in this post I am going to tell you all about how that went.

It started when my group and I were handed the original website for a travel diary with the purpose of redesigning it and creating some content.  When we opened the code and the web page we tried to look for things we could do to make it look better. Our first impression was that the design looked really old fashioned (as you can see in the picture bellow).

Instantly we decided to change the color of the background, the font and the images. We also determined that this was going to be a travel diary of a trip to Paris (because who doesn't love Paris, right?). Well, after understanding the original code we started making some changes to the Home page and this is how it ended up looking like.

We took the ugly logo out, inserted a huge picture of the Eiffel Tour and set the Home page to be a summary of the website. To do that we created an info-graphic that described briefly the trip to Paris we were going to talk about in the website and added it to the Home page.

For the Blog and the About Us pages we had to learn how to center pictures using CSS and how to organize the texts in the website using the code. For that we used W3schools tutorials, which I really recommend.

Our last touch to the website was the footer. And since this was the first footer we ever made we decided to make it really simple. We added social media icons and that was it. To be really honest with you that's the part I am less proud of but I am going to share it with you either way.

As you can see this is a really simple website but even so I think it looks a lot better than the original one. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments and please take in consideration that I am a beginner at this (hahaha)!

Hope to hear from you,

Byee.
